Dear Community Members and Organizations:
The CAS of Toronto and its Community Advisory Committee (CAC) invites you to attend a community information meeting:
Wednesday November 22, 2017
North York Memorial Hall, Burgundy Room
5110 Yonge Street, Concourse Level
5:30 pm – 8:30 pm (dinner provided)
The Community Advisory Committee was established in 2016 to provide feedback and analysis to the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto regarding services to Black children and families.
At this meeting the CAS of Toronto and the Community Advisory Committee will share:
- updates on our Agency’s equity strategy
- progress on the community recommendations regarding services to Black families, children and youth
- information on the Community Advisory Committee’s role, work-plan and membership
The CAC is comprised of concerned Black community members and organizations serving Black families and children. Their role is to help examine and analyze the services and issues that were raised concerning the CAS of Toronto and anti-Black racism. For more information on the Community Advisory Committee please click here.
Systemic racism in child welfare has disproportionately affected Black families and children for decades. The CAS of Toronto acknowledges this fact and is working to implement corrective measures in line with community recommendations. We are committed to better aligning and transforming our work with families in the Black community to ensure more equitable outcomes.
We look forward to this evening of community engagement and enhancing relationships with community members and organizations within the Black community. We know that the community is seeking transformation within the child welfare sector to achieve more equitable, effective and positive outcomes for the families involved with the CAS of Toronto.
Everyone is welcome to join us for this important evening of discussion.
